  1. paKet REMOTE
  2.  
  3. You are connected to a paKet system with the REMOTE Operations mode
  4. active.
  5.  
  6. You may operate this paKet system to a limited degree, performing
  7. file transfers in both directions without any action required by the
  8. operator of this station. You are in command of this system.
  9.  
  10. It operates in a manner similar to most of the popular BBS systems
  11. around the world.

  13. Enter "H" from the paKet Menu to get detailed information on the menu
  14. commands.

  17. paKet was developed initially as a data gathering system for a
  18. Triathlon at which Packet Radio was to be used as a communications
  19. medium. The project has grown to the point where paKet is now one of
  20. the (if not THE) most sophisticated packet radio programs available
  21. anywhere, laying claim to be "The best Packet Radio software in the world".

  23. paKet is a communications system especially developed for Packet
  24. Radio operation. Its features include:
  25.    Interrupt driven communications
  26.    Flashback feature
  27.    File and/or printer logging
  28.    File transfers, both ASCII text and YAPP Binary protocol
  29.    Fully customisable through online configuration windows
  30.    Full online TNC help for all your TNC commands
  31.    Supports both hardware and software handshaking
  32.    Multiple windows for multiple connections
  33.    Remote (unattended) access
  34.    Contest Mode for monitoring contest results (eg Triathlon)
  35.    Access to DOS and to your favourite editor from within  paKet
  36.    Automatic Script processing

  40. This system supports paKet-Protocol, an enhanced version of (but
  41. completely compatible with) the original YAPP Protocol, allowing AUTOMATIC
  42. recovery of an incomplete file transfer.

  44. So, if you are receiving a binary file and the transfer ends prematurely,
  45. the part-file will be retained on your disk. Provided your system also
  46. supports paKet-Protocol, you just start the same transfer again and
  47. paKet-Protocol will do the rest, restarting from where you left off!

  50. paKet is available as a SHAREWARE system and should be available on most
  51. BBS systems, not to mention all paKet REMOTE systems, for downloading.
  52. (You will need to have binary transfer facilities, either YAPP protocol or
  53. paKet-Protocol, to download it).
